The present invention is a method for gettering undesirable atomic species from a vaporizing atmosphere during deposition of multi-element thin film phosphor compositions. The method comprises vaporizing one or more getter species immediately prior and/or simultaneously during the deposition of a phosphor film composition within a deposition chamber. The method improves the luminance and emission spectrum of phosphor materials used for full colour ac electroluminescent displays employing thick film dielectric layers with a high dielectric constant.

La présente invention concerne un procédé faisant intervenir un getter pour des espèces atomiques indésirables dans l'atmosphère de vaporisation pendant le dépôt de compositions phosphorées à film mince multi-élément. Le procédé consiste à vaporiser une ou plusieurs espèces getter immédiatement avant et/ou pendant le dépôt d'une composition de film de phosphore à l'intérieur d'une chambre de dépôt. Ce procédé a pour effet d'améliorer la luminance et le spectre d'émission de matériaux phosphorés utilisés pour des affichages électroluminescents ca pleine couleur utilisant des couches diélectriques à film épais à constante diélectrique élevée.
