A method for hair removal from a skin area by selective photo-inactivation of the pilo-sebaceous apparatus using ALA, derivatives of ALA, for example those with alkylene-glycol chains. Selectivity of the method is further enhanced by treatment of the epidermis by agents reducing PpIX levels in the epidermis. Side effects are diminished by using short drug/light intervals.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'épilation des poils, qui consiste à traiter la zone de l'épiderme visée au moyen d'une photo-inactivation sélective de l'appareil pilo-sébacé, en utilisant des dérivés d'acide aminolévulinique à chaînes alkylène-glycol. On accroît encore la sélectivité du procédé en traitant l'épiderme au moyen d'agents qui réduisent les taux de PpIX propres à l'épiderme. Enfin, on diminue les effets secondaires en utilisant des intervalles brefs dans la séquence médicament/lumière.
