Using the amino acid sequences listed (a) through (l), it was possible to design primers convenient for the specific amplification of gyrB sequences from a variety of organisms. With the determined gyrB sequences, the taxonomic characterization of the organisms could be done quickly and accurately. The determined sequences are also useful for the design of specific primers allowing the selective amplification of gyrB sequences of specific organisms. Such primers will be useful for the specific detection of microorganisms in any environments which is needed in risk or performance assessments in various bioprocess.
