The present invention provides novel methods for identifying and monitoring epigenetic modifications, such as im-printed genes, using microarray based technology. Specifically, the invention detects imprinted genes by the presence of overlapping closed and open chromatin markers. The invention also discloses a method for detecting the loss of imprinting on a genome-wide scale, which is indicative of a variety of medical conditions. Diagnostic assays and chromatin structure markers for identifying gene imprinting and loss thereof are also disclosed.

La présente invention concerne de nouveaux procédés d'identification et de suivi de modifications épigénétiques, telles que des gènes soumis à empreinte, à l'aide d'une technologie basée sur les puces à ADN. Plus particulièrement, l'invention permet la détection de gènes soumis à empreinte grâce à la présence de marqueurs de chromatine ouverte et fermée chevauchants. L'invention concerne également un procédé de détection de la perte d'empreinte à l'échelle du génome entier, qui est indicatrice d'une variété d'affections médicales.
