A method for identifying an anti-streptococcal agent, comprises: (a) providing, as a first component, an isolated streptococcal M protein or a functional variant thereof; (b) providing, as a second component, isolated fibrinogen or a functional variant thereof; (b) providing, as a third component, an isolated .beta.2 integrin or a functional variant thereof; (d) contacting said components with a test substance under conditions that would permit the components to interact in the absence of the test substance; and (e) determining whether the test substance inhibits the interaction between the components; thereby to determine whether a test substance is an anti- streptococcal agent.
La présente invention a trait à un procédé permettant l'identification d'un agent anti-streptococcique, comprenant : (a) la mise à disposition, en tant que premier constituant, d'une protéine M streptococcique isolée ou un des ses variants fonctionnels ; (b) la mise à disposition, en tant que deuxième constituant, d'un fibrinogène isolé ou un de ses variants fonctionnels ; (c) la mise à disposition, en tant que troisième constituant, d'une intégrine¿ ?.beta.¿2? isolée ou un des ses variants fonctionnels ; (d) la mise en contact desdits constituants avec une substance d'essai dans des conditions permettant l'interaction des constituants en l'absence de la substance d'essai ; et (e) la détermination de l'inhibition ou non par la substance d'essai de l'interaction entre les constituants, permettant ainsi l'identification de la substance d'essai comme étant ou non un agent anti-streptococcique.
