2129839 9316386 PCTABS00025 The present invention provides a matrix which can be used to detect and measure quantitatively, accurately and precisely high levels of hydrogen peroxide. The matrix has a large amount of indicators chemically bound thereto. These high levels of hydrogen peroxide may result from the enzyme-mediated decomposition of various analytes from undiluted whole blood samples. Both a dyed film-forming polymer and a dyed film-opening polymer are used in combination to provide a reagent film that changes color indicating the presence of hydrogen peroxide. A preferred two component dye system is primaquine immobilized to the film-opening solid matrix particles and MBTH (3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone-hydrazone) immobilized to the film former.
