An immunological assay method for an antigen or an antibody, which method makes use of a reaction between an immune complex resulting from a reaction between a target antigen Ag or a target antibody AbAb1 to be measured and a corresponding antibody Ab1 or antigen Ag therefor and an antibody Ab2 that specifically reacts with the antibody that has formed the immune complex, to thereby measure antigen Ag or an antibody Ab1. The method of the present invention enables establishment of assay systems which have heretofore been impossible; i.e., immunonephelometry making use of a monoclonal antibody, latex agglutination making use of a monoclonal antibody, and hemagglutination making use of a monoclonal antibody; assay systems based on EIA or RIA, in which a single species of antibody is employed; and assay systems based on latex agglutination or hemagglutination using a trace amount of antibody.
