A method (200) is disclosed for designing an RNP approach for an aircraft at a particular runway (90). The method includes selecting a runway (201), gathering obstacle data for the obstacle evaluation area (202), selecting a VEB method and terms (204), laying out a preliminary approach, inducing a missed approach segment (206), calculating a preliminary obstacle clearance surface (208), calculating a momentary descent segment using a physical model of the aircraft (210), adjusting the obstacle clearance surface so that no obstacles intersect the surface (212), and optionally optimizing the approach by departing from the operator's standard procedures (214). Preferably, the obstacle clearance surface is adjusted so that it just touches an obstacle, without any object intersecting the surface, thereby providing an optimal decision altitude.
La présente invention concerne un procédé (200) pour mettre au point une approche de qualité de navigation requise (RNP) pour un avion sur une piste particulière (90). Le procédé consiste à sélectionner une piste (201), à rassembler les données d'obstacle pour la zone d'évaluation d'obstacles (202), à sélectionner une méthode et des termes VEB (budget d'erreur vertical) (204), à établir une approche préliminaire, à induire un segment d'approche interrompue (206), à calculer une surface de franchissement d'obstacles préliminaire (208), à calculer un segment de descente momentané en utilisant un modèle physique de l'avion (210), à ajuster la surface de franchissement d'obstacles de manière qu'aucun obstacle ne croise la surface (212), puis éventuellement à optimiser l'approche en s'écartant des procédures standards d'opérateur (214). La surface de franchissement d'obstacles est de préférence ajustée de manière à toucher juste un obstacle, sans aucun objet croisant la surface, offrant ainsi une altitude de décision optimale.
