ABSTRACT The invention relates to a method for improved image reproduction in reproduction technology in which the recording is undertaken with a finer resolution than the scanning and the finer resolution in the recording is undertaken with a plurality of selectively drivable recording beams. It essentially consists therein that the recording beams are separately drivable for recording half-tone raster points, in that the recording beams are combined in groups for the refined line reproduction and are driven by groups or in that the recording beams are individually employed in the refined line reproduction and in that the control information for the drive of the individual recording beams is obtained from the coarser scanning information.
