A method of causing metachromatism by the use of a reversible thermochromic composition comprising (a) an electron donating compound, (b) an electron accepting compound and (c) a metachromatic temperature adjuster, wherein; (d) an electron accepting, light-fastness providing agent represented by Formula I: (see fig. I) wherein n represents an integer of 5 to 17 to form a straight-chain or branched alkyl group; X and Y each represent a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a halogen atom; and p and m each represent an integer of 0 to 3; is brought into presence in an amount of 0.3 part by weight to 70 parts by weight based on 1.0 part by weight of the component-(a) electron donating compound. The light-fastness of the reversible thermochromic composition at the time of color development can be greatly improved.
Méthode de production de métachromatisme au moyen d'une composition thermochromique réversible comprenant (a) un composé donneur d'électron, (b) un composé accepteur d'électron et (c) un dispositif d'ajustement de la température métachromatique, où (d) un agent accepteur d'électron, qui apporte une certaine résistance à la lumière et que décrit la formule I : (voir fig. I) où n désigne un entier compris entre 5 et 17 pour la formation d'un groupe alkyle sur une chaîne linéaire ou ramifiée; où X et Y désignent chacun un groupe alkyle sur une chaîne linéaire ou ramifiée ayant de 1 à 4 atomes de carbone ou un atome d'halogène; et où p et m désignent chacun un entier compris entre 0 et 3; est mis en présence (a) dans une proportion comprise entre 0,3 et 70 parties en poids pour 1,0 partie en poids du composé électrodonneur. Il est ainsi possible d'améliorer considérablement la résistance à la lumière de la composition thermochromique réversible lors du développement des couleurs.
