ABSTRACT Process for the cross-linking of polypropylene, propylene copolymers, polyethylene, of ethylene/propylene and ethylene/propylene/diene elastomeric copolymers and mixtures of said elastomers with above said thermoplastic polyolefines. Said process consists of modifying the polymer in the molten state, by the addition of 0.01% - 10% by weight of carboxylic acid, possibly in the presence of generator of radicals, particularly in the case of modifying agents with a scarce tendency of grafting themselves onto the polyolefine chains, and by the subsequent salification with metal ions of the thus grafted carboxylic groups. The polymer products thus obtained display considerably improved characteristics under heat, in particular there is obtained improved process ability and elastic recovery characteristics for thermoplastic rubbers.
