The invention relates to a method of selectively controlling undesirable vegetation in a desired crop comprising applying to the locus of said vegetation an herbicidally effective amount of a metal chelate of a 2-(substituted benzoyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione of general formula: (see formula II) wherein the 2-(substituted benzoyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione is selected from 2-(2'-nitro-4'-methylsulfonylbenzoyl)-1,3- cyclohexanedione, 2-(2'-nitro-4'-methylsulfonyloxybenzoyl)- 1,3-cyclohexanedione and 2-(2'-chloro-4'- methylsulfonylbenzoyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione.

Procédé pour lutter sélectivement contre une végétation indésirable dans les récoltes en utilisant une application de postlevée d'une quantité efficace en tant qu'herbicide d'un composé de 2-(benzoyle substitué) -1,3-cyclohexanedione sur le site de la végétation indésirable.
