Method for improving the transmission of information in the form of data packets, in accordance with a distributed queuing protocol. By combining the measures according to the invention with time slot erasure techniques and with queuing protocols such as the DQDB (Distributed Queue Dual Bus) and the D3Q (Dynamic Distributed Dual Queuing) protocol, a protocol is obtained with which the capacity of the transmission system can be utilised in a more efficient manner. To this end provision is made, according to the invention, that each access unit which is able to erase data is able to reset received request bits, the number of request bits to be reset by said access unit being recorded in said access units for the relevant transmission channel and a request bit on a transmission channel being reset by the access unit which receives said request bit if the number of request bits to be reset by said access unit on said channel is greater than the number of request bits still to be transmitted by said access unit over said channel. In this way requests are prevented from remaining in access unit counters unnecessarily, moreover, by means of the measures according to the invention, the principle of both protocols can also be used in a ring structure, which without said measures would irrevocably lead to considerable problems.

En combinant les mesures de l'invention avec des techniques d'effacement de créneaux temporels et avec des protocoles de mise en file tels que le DBQB (Distributed Queue Dual Bus) et le D3Q (Dynamic Distributed Dual Queuing), on obtient un protocole qui permet d'utiliser plus efficacement la capacité du système de transmission. € cette fin, conformément à l'invention, chaque unité d'accès qui est capable d'effacer des données est aussi capable de remettre à zéro les bits de demande reçus : ces unités d'accès enregistrent le nombre de bits de demande à remettre ainsi à zéro pour le canal de transmission pertinent et l'unité d'accès qui reçoit ledit bit de demande remet à zéro un bit de demande sur le canal de transmission si le nombre de bits de demande qu'elle doit remettre à zéro sur ledit canal est supérieur au nombre de bits de demande qu'il lui reste à transmettre sur ledit canal. Ces dispositions empêchent les demandes de demeurer inutilement dans les compteurs des unités d'accès. De plus, l'invention prévoit des mesures qui permettent d'utiliser le principe des deux protocoles dans une structure en anneau, ce qui autrement provoquerait inévitablement des difficultés considérables.
