The invention relates to a method for inactivating bacteria and/or leukocytes in thrombocyte suspensions involving the addition of precursor compounds selected from .delta.-amino levulinic acid or derivatives thereof, from which photosensitizers are formed by endogenous synthesis, and involving a subsequent photodynamic treatment.
