ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The adhesion of a layer of epoxy resin to a metal object, to which the epoxy resin is applied in order to protect the metal object from corrosion, may be improved by applying an electrostatically charged resin-hardener powder mixture to a preheated metal object, with the temperature of the metal object and the rate of application of the powder being adjusted to ensure that the resin completely melts and wets the metal surface before the hardener melts and begins to increase the viscosity of the melted powder through its hardening action. The improvement of the adhesion eliminates micro- cavities between the epoxy resin layer and the metal surface and thus reduces corrosion on the metal surface.
