The invention relates to a method for the independent alignment of an inertial unit for a backup instrument in an aircraft. According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: determining a condition of the aircraft, i.e. whether the aircraft is flying or not; in the case the aircraft is flying, carrying out a flight alignment (52); in the case the aircraft is not flying, determining the stability of the aircraft, i.e. whether the aircraft is on the ground or at sea; in the case the aircraft is on the ground, carrying out a ground alignment (54); in case the aircraft is at sea, carrying out a sea alignment (55). The invention is advantageous in that it allows for an alignment with the same precision independently from the conditions in which the aircraft may be, the alignment being adapted to said conditions.
The invention relates to a method for independent alignment of an inertial measurement unit for a standby instrument in an aircraft. According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: - determining a status of the aircraft (20), that is to say whether or not the aircraft is in flight, - in the case where the aircraft (20) is detected as being in flight: ~ carrying out a flight alignment (52), - in the case where the aircraft is not detected as being in flight: ~ determining a stability of the aircraft, that is to say whether the aircraft is on the ground or at sea, ~ in the case where the aircraft is detected as being on the ground: ~ carrying out a ground alignment (54), ~ in the case where the aircraft is detected as being at sea: ~ carrying out a sea alignment (55). The invention notably has the advantage that it makes it possible to complete the alignment with the same precision no matter what the conditions in which the aircraft is may be, the alignment being adapted to those conditions.
