Use of a piperazine compound of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in the preparation of a medicament for inducing cell death in neoplastic cells as a primary chemotherapeutic agent, or for potentiating chemotherapy to treat multidrug-resistant neoplastic cells, where R1 is hydroxyl, C1-4 alkoxyl, C1-4 alkylcarbonyloxymethoxyl, phenyl C1-2 alkylamino group, 2,5-pyrrolidinedione-1-alkoxyl(C1-4), or formula (II) wherein X1 is a chemical bond or C1-2 alkylene, X2 is hydrogen or carboxyl forming a 5- membered ring with X1 when X1 is methylene, X3 is hydrogen or C1-2 alkyl, X4 is hydrogen or C1-2 alkyl, or X3 and X4 together form a 5-membered ring, in which at least one of X2, X3, and X4 is hydrogen, R2 is C3-4 alkyl, R3 is C1-4 alkyl, formulae (III), (IV) or (V) in which n is an integer of 0 to 3.

La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'un composé de pipérazine représenté par la formule générale (I) ou de l'un de ses sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables dans la préparation d'un médicament permettant d'induire la mort cellulaire des cellules néoplasiques en tant qu'agent chimiothérapeutique primaire, ou de potentialiser la chimiothérapie de cellules néoplasiques résistant à plusieurs médicaments. Dans la formule (I), R?1¿ est hydroxyle, C1-4 alcoxyle, C1-4 alkylcarbonyloxyméthoxyle, un groupe phényle C1-2 alkylamino, 2,5-pyrrolidinedione-1-alcoxyle (C1-4) ou (II), dans laquelle X?1¿ est une liaison chimique ou C1-2 alkylène, X?2¿ est hydrogène ou carbonyle formant un cycle à 5 segments avec X?1¿ lorsque X?1¿ est méthylène, X?3¿ est hydrogène ou C1-2 alkyle, X?4¿ est hydrogène ou C1-2 alkyle, ou X?3¿ et X?4¿ forment ensemble un cycle à 5 segments dans lequel l'un au moins des symboles X?2¿, X?3¿ et X?4¿ est hydrogène.
