Method for industrial manufacture of pure (precipitated) CaCO3 comprising providing at leas tone naturally occurring carbonate bearing rock and comminuting said rock to increase its surface area. In a first reaction zone (R1) the comminuted carbonate bearing rock is contacted with water and CO2 at a pressure higher than standard pressure, at a temperature in the range 30- 500°C and at a pH lower than 5 to thereby dissolve the carbonate. Dissolved material is conveyed from the first reaction zone (R1) to a second reaction zone (R2) held at a lower pressure than the first reaction zone and a pH higher than that of the first reaction zone, the presence of H' ions in first and second reaction zones being caused by the reaction between CO2 and water. In the second reaction zone the calcium carbonate is precipitated at a pH higher than 5.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication industrielle de CaCO3 pur (précipité) comprenant les étapes consistant à fournir au moins une roche contenant des carbonates existant à l'état naturel et à broyer ladite roche afin d'augmenter sa surface. Dans une première zone de réaction (R1), la roche broyée contenant des carbonates est mise en contact avec de l'eau et du CO2 sous une pression supérieure à la pression normale, à une température dans la plage allant de 30 à 500 °C et à un pH inférieur à 5 afin de dissoudre de ce fait le carbonate. Le matériel dissous est dirigé de la première zone de réaction (R1) vers une seconde zone de réaction (R2) maintenue à une pression inférieure à celle de la première zone de réaction et à un pH supérieur à celui de la première zone de réaction, la présence des ions H+ dans la première et la seconde zone de réaction étant due à la réaction entre le CO2 et l'eau. Dans la seconde zone de réaction, le carbonate de calcium est précipité à un pH supérieur à 5.
