A coupled mode digital filter which simulates any number of arbitrarily tuned modes coupled together so as to share the same loss element at a junction loaded by an arbitrary impedance function is formed from the combination of one first order allpass filter (28) and one unit delay (30) per mode and one shared coupling filter (36). This coupled mode digital filter may be excited by a stored or generated excitation signal, or a filtered excitation signal, to produce inharmonic percussive sounds and musically interesting two-stage and beating decay envelopes resulting from natural coupling of modes of near frequencies.
L'invention a trait à un filtre numérique à mode couplé, simulant un nombre voulu de modes arbitrairement accordés, lesquels sont couplés de manière à partager le même élément de perte à une jonction chargée par une fonction d'impédance arbitraire, ledit filtre étant formé à partir de la combinaison d'un filtre (28) passe-tout de premier ordre, d'un retard unitaire (30) par mode, et d'un filtre (36) à couplage partagé. Ce filtre numérique à mode couplé peut être excité par un signal d'excitation produit ou mémorisé, ou un signal d'excitation filtré, en vue de produire des sons neutres de percussion et des enveloppes rythmiques décroissantes ou à deux étages, inétressants d'un point de vue musical, résultant du couplage naturel de modes à fréquences proches.
