A method of inhibiting the development and growth of hepatocellular carcinoma in a individual chronically infected with Hepatitis B virus involves prolonged administration of a prophylactically effective amount of 3TC to the chronically infected individual. Additionally, the method includes prolonged administration of 3TC in combination with another antiviral agent having activity against Hepatitis B virus.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'inhibition du développement et de la croissance du carcinome hépatocellulaire chez un sujet infecté de manière chronique par le virus de l'hépatite B. Ledit procédé consiste à administrer de manière prolongée une dose efficace sur le plan prophylactique de 3TC au sujet infecté de manière chronique. De plus, il consiste à administrer du 3TC de manière prolongée conjointement avec un autre agent antiviral ayant une activité dirigée contre le virus de l'hépatite B.
