A method for inhibiting the polymerization of vinyl aromatics such as styrene with a mixture of 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-N,N- dimethylbenzyl amine and carboxy acids or anhydrides thereof, in the presence of air or oxygen. The weight ratio of said 3,5-di-tert- butyl-hydroxy-N,N-dimethylbenzyl amine, carboxylic acid (or carboxylic acid anhydride) and the air is 1:1 to 0.05:0.05 to 15, respectively.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé d'inhibition de la polymérisation de composés aromatiques vinyliques, tels que le styrène, à l'aide d'un mélange de 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-N,N-diméthylbenzylamine et d'acides carboxyliques ou d'anhydrides de ceux-ci, en présence d'air ou d'oxygène.
