ABSTRACT A method for injecting wood-preservative liquid into a wooden member that comprises placing the wooden member in a sealable treatment chamber, and immersing this member in wood-preservative liquid, with the proviso that at least 1% of the volume of the chamber is free from wood-preservative liquid but contains a compressible gaseous substance. The pressure inside the chamber is raised to cause compression of the gaseous substance and a flow of pressurized wood-preservative liquid on the surface of the wooden member, and the pressure inside the chamber is subsequently reduced to cause expansion of the gaseous substance and again a flow of pressurized wood-preservative liquid on the surface of the wooden member. The two latter steps can be repeated at will to improve penetration of the liquid in the wood. After the treatment is completed, the atmospheric pressure is restored in the treatment chamber, the wood-preservative liquid is withdrawn and the treated wooden member recovered.
