Abstract of the Disclosure An in-mold coating which contains a preferentially adhesive resin also serves simultaneously as a mold release agent, and results in RIM (reaction injection molding) plastic articles whose surfaces virtually mirror the mold surface. Such a coating leaves no appreciable residue whatsoever on the mold surface during a production run of a large number of articles, obviating the previously encountered need to clean the mold each time a conventional mold release agent was introduced, each time an article was molded. The preferred resin in the coating is a hydroxylated vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer (VAGH resin).
