The invention relates to a method for introducing a vertical shaft (4) underground (2) and to a shaft driving machine (1) set up particularly for performing the method, wherein a cutting wheel (17) is rotated solely about a horizontal axis until a penetration trough (43) having a predetermined penetration depth is formed, and the cutting wheel is then also rotated about a central vertical axis until a shaft foot (3) is dug out to the penetration depth. A relatively high sinking rate is thereby achieved for the shaft (4).

L'invention concerne un procédé de fonçage d'un puits vertical (4) dans le sous-sol (2) et un engin de creusement (1) notamment conçu pour mettre en uvre ledit procédé. Selon l'invention, il est prévu de faire tourner une roue coupante (17) seulement autour d'un axe horizontal jusqu'à former une entaille (43) à profondeur prédéfinie et ensuite de faire tourner la roue coupante (17) également autour d'un axe vertical central pour abaisser un fond de puits (3) jusqu'à la profondeur d'entaille. On obtient de ce fait une vitesse de fonçage relativement élevée pour le puits (4).
