A method for joining weldable metal structures and compound structure formed using the method are disclosed herein. The method includes steps of abutting a first structure (100) to a second structure along an edge to form a seam (300). The two structures are then welded together along the seam on one side of the structures through at least 75% of the thickness of the structures. The structures are then welded along a portion of the seam from the opposite side of the structures. The method may be used to join porous weldable metal structures. The method may be used to create a compound structure having very narrow weld seam widths.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'assemblage de structures métalliques soudables et une structure composée formée au moyen du procédé précité. Ce procédé comprend les étapes consistant à assembler en about une première structure (100) à une seconde structure (200) le long d'un bord en vue de former une ligne de soudure (300). Les deux structures sont ensuite soudées ensemble le long de la ligne de soudure sur un des côtés des structures à travers au moins 75 % de l'épaisseur des structures. Ces structures sont ensuite soudées le long d'une partie de la ligne de soudure à partir du côté opposé desdites structures. Ce procédé peut être utilisé afin d'assembler des structures métalliques soudables poreuses. Il peut également être utilisé afin de créer une structure composée comportant des lignes de soudure très étroites.
