A method of lathing a lens, specially a contact lens, involves attaching the cylindrical blank (1) of lens material to a first block (2) of machineable plastic material, lathe cutting a desired first lens surface (6) in the cylindrical blank (1), attaching the machined first lens surface (6) of the blank (1) to a second block (15), lathe cutting to remove the block (15) of machineable plastic material, and lathe cutting a desired second lens surface in the blank (1). Both the first and second blocks (2, 15) may be adhered to the lens blank (1) with an adhesive curable by ultraviolet radiation, and a two-piece block (15), composed of a head section (16) and a body section (19), is disclosed.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'usinage de lentilles, notamment de lentilles de contact. Le procédé consiste à fixer une ébauche cylindrique (1) de matière pour lentille à un premier bloc (2) de matière plastique usinable, à tailler au tour une première face (6) de lentille désirée dans l'ébauche (1), à fixer cette première face (6) usinée de l'ébauche (1) sur un second bloc (15), à tailler au tour afin d'enlever le bloc (15) de matière plastique usinable, et à tailler au tour une seconde face de lentille désirée dans l'ébauche (1).
