METHOD OF LIGHTENING AND PERMANENTLY COLORING HAIR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and composition for lightening and imparting color to hair is disclosed which achieves a more permanent or longer lasting effect than achievable with traditional oxidation type dyes. A bleaching agent which is capable of lightening hair to a predetermined degree, and a non- oxidation type colorant which is capable of imparting a permanent color is applied to hair for a sufficient length of time and in a sufficient amount to achieve the desired result. The bleaching agent and colorant are then rinsed from the hair.
