TITLE OF THE INVENTION: METHOD FOR LOADING AND LOADING DEVICE FOR A PRESS FOR COMPRESSING STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS, ESPECIALLY FUEL CELL SKELETONS OF NUCLEAR REACTOR FUEL ELEMENTS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In presses for compressing fuel cell skeletons of nuclear reactor fuel elements and other structural elements, loading is made possible without the previously required change of position of the press shaft relative to the base body of the press and without at least partial removal of the cover of the press shaft. The cross bar at which the counterpunch, respectively, the transfer shaft of the press is supported is provided with an opening. Through the opening a feed channel which is slidable in the longitudinal direction of the press and which receives the fuel cell skeletons to be compressed is pushed into the press shaft, with the counterpunch, respectively, transfer shaft being removed from the press shaft. The fuel cell skeleton is then pushed from the feed channel into the press shaft in the longitudinal direction of the press by a slide. In order to reduce the constructive length of the loading device, the insertion of the fuel cell skeletons is carried out in two advancing movements of the slide by providing a push plate rigidly connected to the slide and an advancing ram which is pivotable into the feed channel.
