A method and a system are provided for allowing determination of a distance from a tool to anomaly ahead of the tool. The apparatus for performing the method includes at least one transmitter and at least one receiver. An embodiment of the method includes transmitting electomagnetic signals from the at least one transmitter through the formation surrounding the wellbore and detecting voltage responses at the at least one receiver induced by the electromagnetic signals. The method includes calculating apparent conductivity or apparent resistivity is monitored over time, and the distance to the anomaly is determined from the apparent conductivity or apparent resistivity values
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant de déterminer une distance entre un outil et une anomalie en avant de l'outil. L'appareil destiné à la mise en oeuvre du procédé comprend au moins un émetteur et au moins un récepteur. Dans un mode de réalisation de l'invention, le procédé consiste à émettre des signaux électromagnétiques à partir du ou des émetteurs dans la formation entourant le puits et à détecter des réponses de tension, induites par les signaux électromagnétiques, au niveau du ou des récepteurs. Le procédé consiste à calculer la conductivité apparente ou la résistivité apparente en fonction d'une réponse de tension. La conductivité ou la résistivité est surveillée dans le temps et la distance jusqu'à l'anomalie est déterminée à partir des valeurs de conductivité apparente ou de résistivité apparente.
