A composite material includes first phase which comprises LixMy(PO4)z wherein M is at least one metal, y and z are independently 0, and x is less than or equal to 1. The material includes a second phase which has an electronic and/or lithium ion conductivity greater than that of the first phase. The material is prepared by heating a starting mixture which includes lithium, iron, a phosphate ion, and a catalyst in a reducing atmosphere. Also disclosed are electrodes which incorporate the material and batteries which utilize those electrodes as cathodes.

L'invention concerne un matériau composite qui comporte une première phase comprenant LixMy(PO4)z, M représentant au moins un métal, y et z valant indépendamment 0 et x étant égal ou inférieur à 1. Ce matériau comprend une seconde phase qui possède une conductivité électronique et/ou d'ion lithium supérieure à celle de la première phase. Ce matériau est préparé par chauffage d'un mélange de départ qui comprend du lithium, du fer, un ion de phosphate et un catalyseur dans une atmosphère de réduction. L'invention concerne également des électrodes qui incorporent ce matériau, ainsi que des piles mettant en oeuvre ces électrodes en tant que cathodes.
