L'invention a pour objet un procédé de fabrication d'une boîte métallique de forme comprenant, d'une part, un fond (1), une jupe périphérique (2) cylindrique venue de matière avec ledit fond (1) et comportant au moins une zone géométriquement expansée (2A, 2B) et, d'autre part, un couvercle serti sur la jupe périphérique (2). Le procédé consiste à réaliser dans la zone à expanser géométriquement un pliage contrôlé en accordéon de la jupe périphérique (2) et sur toute la hauteur de ladite zone à expanser géométriquement pour augmenter le volume du métal disponible dans cette zone et à déplier le pliage en accordéon de la jupe périphéri- que pour obtenir une zone géométriquement expansée (2A, 2B).
