A method for making an absorbent structure (10) having at least two plies (P1, P2) each consisting of at least one embossed absorbent crepe paper sheet, wherein the plies (P1, P2) are fed between two synchronously rotated and mutually overlapping grooved metal cylinders (CG1, CG2) provided with projections (R1, R2), in such a way that the clearance (J) between the tops of the projections (R1, R2) of one metal cylinder (CG1, CG2) and the facing bottom surface (F2, F1) of a groove in the other cylinder (CG2, CG1) is smaller than the groove depth of the cylinders and larger than the sum of the thicknesses (E1, E2) of the previously formed plies (P1, P2), whereby said plies (P1, P2) are not compressed as they are fed between the overlapping grooved cylinders (CG1, CG2).

L'invention propose un procédé de réalisation d'une structure absorbante (10) à au moins deux plis (P1, P2), constitués chacun d'au moins une feuille gaufrée de papier absorbant crêpé, du type dans lequel on engage les plis (P1, P2) entre deux cylindres métalliques gravés (CG1, CG2) pourvus de protubérances (R1, R2), entraînés en rotation de manière synchronisée et s'imbriquant mutuellement avec un jeu (J) entre les sommets des protubérances (R1, R2) d'un cylindre métallique (CG1, CG2) et la surface en vis-à-vis du fond (F2, F1) de la gravure de l'autre cylindre (CG2, CG1), caractérisé en ce que ledit jeu (J) est inférieur à la profondeur de la gravure des cylindres et supérieur à la somme des épaisseurs (E1, E2) des plis (P1, P2) préalablement conformés de manière que les plis (P1, P2) ne soient pas comprimés lors de leur engagement entre les cylindres gravés imbriqués (CG1, CG2).
