The invention concerns a method for making anodes used for aluminum production by fused-salt electrolysis, said anodes comprising an anode rod made of conductive metal and at least one carbon-containing block (21), or anode block. Said method includes at least the following steps: a) providing an anode rod; b) providing a new anode block; c) fixing one end of the anode rod on the anode block, so as to provide proper mechanical engagement and proper electrical connection between said rod and said anode block. Said method is characterized in that, before, during or after step c) but before installing said anode in the electrolytic cell, it consists, at least on part of the upper surface of said anode block, in depositing a protective layer (10) of controlled thickness, typically between 5 and 25 cm, consisting of a material resistant to the temperature and to the corrosion by the environment prevailing above the electrolytic solution.

Procédé de fabrication d'anodes employées pour la production d'aluminium par électrolyse ignée, lesdites anodes comprenant une tige d'anode en métal conducteur et au moins un bloc en matériau carboné (21), appelé bloc anodique, ledit procédé comprenant au moins les étapes suivantes: a) se munir d'une tige d'anode; b) se munir d'un bloc anodique neuf; c) fixer une extrémité de la tige d'anode sur le bloc anodique, de façon à assurer un bon accrochage mécanique et une bonne liaison électrique entre ladite tige et ledit bloc anodique. ledit procédé étant caractérisé en ce que, avant, pendant ou après l'étape c) mais avant la mise en place de ladite anode dans la cellule d' électrolyse, on effectue, au moins partiellement sur la surface supérieure dudit bloc anodique, le dépôt d'une couche protectrice (10 ) d'épaisseur contrôlée, typiquement comprise entre 5 et 25 cm, constituée d'un matériau résistant à la température et à la corrosion par le milieu régnant au-dessus du bain d' électrolyse.
