ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Methods of manufacturing push brooms, particularly brooms suitable for the game of curling, are disclosed. A broom head blank has a flat-bottomed recess disposed in the bottom surface thereof. With this bottom surface facing upwardly, the recess is at least partially filled with glue in such manner that the bottom of the recess is covered with the glue. The blank with its bottom surface up is arranged under a bristle holder and below a slidable release plate. The nolder has a cavity for receiving and holding the broom bristles, the bottom of the cavity being provided by the release plate. A sufficient number of bristles for one push broom are inserted in the cavity and the release plate is pulled out from the bristle holder to permit the bristles to settle into the glue in the recess. The glue is then allowed to set and then a handle is attached to the finished broom head. In an alternate method, the bristle holder comprises an elongate enclosed member having long side portions and an opening for receiving and holding the bristles. The opening corresponds substantially in length and width to the dimensions of the recess in the blank.
