The invention concerns a method for making mineral wool by internal centrifuging characterised in that the temperature of the mineral material in the fibre-forming spinner is at least 1150 ·C and the fibre-forming spinner consists of a cobalt-based alloy comprising the following elements (in weight percentages of the alloy): Cr 23 to 34 %, Fe less than 3 %, Ni 6 to 12 %, Si less than 1 %, Ta 3 to 10 %, Mn less than 0.5 %, C 0.2 to 1.2 %, Zr less than 0.1 %, W 0 to 8 %, the rest being formed by cobalt and unavoidable impurities, the mol ratio of tantalum to carbon being at least 0.3. The invention also concerns alloys particularly suited for this method corresponding to said formula and do not contain tungsten. The inventive alloys can be used for other purposes in oxidising atmosphere at a temperature of at least 1100 ·C.

Le procédé de fabrication de laine minérale par centrifugation interne est caractérisé en ce que la température de la matière minérale dans l'assiette de fibrage est d'au moins 1150 ~C et en ce que l'assiette de fibrage est constituée d'un alliage à base de cobalt comprenant les éléments suivants (en pourcentage pondéral de l'alliage): Cr 23 à 34 %, Fe moins de 3 %, Ni 6 à 12 %, Si moins de 1 %, Ta 3 à 10 %, Mn moins de 0,5 %, C 0,2 à 1,2 %, Zr moins de 0,1 %, W 0 à 8 %, le reste étant constitué par du cobalt et des impuretés inévitables, le rapport molaire du tantale par rapport au carbone étant d'au moins 0,3. Des alliages particulièrement adaptés à ce procédé répondent à la formule ci-dessus et ne renferment pas de tungstène. Les alliages selon l'invention peuvent être utilisés à d'autres fins en atmosphère oxydante à une température d'au moins 1100 ~C.
