A method is provided for making a part from particulates of ferrous material. A layer of from greater than about 0 wt.% to about 50 wt.% of ductile metal or alloy is plated onto each of said particulates. The particulates are consolidated to form a part, and the part is heated at a temperature of from about 350 ~C to about 800 ~C for a time period of from about 30 minutes to about 120 minutes. A method for making parts having complex geometries by powder metallurgy is also provided. A quantity of a particulate of a first matrial is provided. A second material is coated onto the first material by plating a layer of from about 2 wt.% to about 50 wt.% of a second material onto the surface of each particulate. The coated particulates are consolidated to form a part and the part is heat treated.

La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de fabriquer une pièce à partir de particules de matière ferreuse. On plaque une couche de plus de 0 % poids environ à 50 % poids environ d'un métal ou d'un alliage ductile sur chacune des particules. On consolide ces particules pour former une pièce, et on chauffe la pièce à une température comprise entre 350 ·C environ et 800 ·C environ pendant une durée de 30 minutes environ à 120 minutes environ. L'invention se rapporte également à un procédé permettant de fabriquer des pièces à géométrie complexe par la métallurgie des poudres. On revêt une quantité de substance particulaire d'une première matière d'une seconde matière en plaquant sur la surface de chaque particule une couche de 2 % poids environ à 50 % poids environ de la seconde matière. On consolide les particules revêtues afin de former une pièce qui est ensuite soumise à un traitement thermique.
