The invention concerns a method for making poly(ethylene terephthalate)-poly(ethylene isophthalate) copolyester, containing at least 8 % of isophthalic units. Said method comprises the following steps: a) esterifying or transesterifying with ethylene glycol a mixture containing terephthalic acid or methyl terephthalate and at least 8 wt.% of isophthalic acid or methyl isophthalate; b) polymerising in molten phase the esterified product; c) solidification and granulation; d) crystallisation by contacting with a liquid medium not dissolving the polymer or by successive treatment in two crystallizers, a first crystallizer comprising means for heating granules and means for imposing on the granules a uniform retention time inside, a second crystallizer comprising means for producing a bed of granules fluidised by a hot gas stream; e) solid phase post-condensation of the crystallized granules. The crystallization step according to one embodiment enables to prevent the granules from sticking together during the solid phase post-condensation.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de copolyester poly(éthylène téréphtalate)-poly(éthylène isophtalate), contenant au moins 8 % d'unités isophtaliques. Il comprend les étapes suivantes: a) estérification ou transestérification par l'éthylène glycol d'un mélange comprenant de l'acide téréphtalique ou du téréphtalate de méthyle et au moins 8 % en poids d'acide isophtalique ou d'isophtalate de méthyle, b) polymérisation en phase fondue du produit d'estérification, c) solidification et granulation, d) cristallisation par mise en contact des granulés avec un milieu liquide non solvant du polymère ou par traitement successif dans deux cristalliseurs, un premier cristalliseur comprenant un moyen de chauffage des granulés et un moyen permettant d'imposer aux granulés un temps de séjour uniforme à l'intérieur, un deuxième cristalliseur comprenant des moyens de réalisation d'un lit de granulés fluidisé par un courant de gaz chaud, e) post-condensation en phase solide des granulés cristallisés. L'étape de cristallisation selon un des modes de réalisation permet d'éviter les phénomènes de collage des granulés lors de l'étape de post-condensation en phase solide.
