A process for drawing, with plug assist, thin-walled, closed-ended, tubular articles of thermoplastic elastomer is disclosed as well as a thermoplastic elastomer and apparatus therefor. According to the process, a plug (6), extensible into the mold cavity (5), is employed concurrently with a varying air pressure differential across the faces of the preform to bias the flow of the drawn article axially along the length of the tubular mold and away from the mold walls. At a point where the article is drawn substantially the length of the tubular mold, the mold is evacuated and the article finally formed against the mold walls. Such articles are usefully employed as condoms or finger cots.
Un procédé permet d'étirer, avec un poinçon, des articles tubulaires à extrémité fermée et parois minces en élastomère thermoplastique, lequel est décrit, ainsi qu'un appareil approprié. Selon ce procédé, un poinçon (6), déployable dans la cavité de moulage (5), est employé concurremment avec un différentiel variable de pression d'air entre les faces de l'ébauche, pour tendre l'article étiré dans l'axe sur toute la longueur du moule tubulaire en l'écartant des parois de ce moule. Quand l'article est étiré sur pratiquement toute la longueur du moule tubulaire, celui-ci est vidé et l'article prend sa forme définitive contre les parois du moule. De tels articles se révèlent utiles comme préservatifs ou comme doigtiers.
