The method for manufacturing a washable and long-lasting leather garment comprises the steps of: a) providing pieces of leather coming from tanned cow hides drum dyed with aniline, each hide including a flesh side and an epidermis side; b) cutting out each of said pieces of leather according to a specific pattern of the leather garment to be manufactured; c) fusing a polyester lining on the flesh side of the cut out leather pieces of step b); d) sewing together the leather pieces of step c) to obtain the leather garment; e) bathing the leather garment of step d) in a cold aqueous solution for a period of time enabling the garment to be completely soaked; and f) drum drying the leather garment of step e) for a time comprised between 165 to 195 minutes at a temperature between 39°C to 42°C. A leather garment made according to the above method can last many washings without deteriorating.
