ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for manufacturing multilayer board in which the pulp suspension forming a surface layer is fed from a first headbox onto the horizontal section of a first, inner wire to form a first layer of the web. The pulp suspension forming an intermediate layer of the web is supplied onto the first layer in or ahead of a tapering gap constituted by the first wire and a second, outer wire. Both of the wires and the web layers between them are subsequently guided over a curved surface. Then, the first wire and both of the web layers are guided to converge onto a third wire having a horizontal section of which pulp suspension forming the web of the other surface layer of the board is supplied. The consistency of the pulp suspension forming the intermediate layer is substantially higher than that of the pulp suspensions forming the surface layer. The advance in the art is in the possibility of substantially increasing the bulk of the intermediate layer and thus of the board, combined with the benefit of reduced consumption of water, and no need for additional chemicals, the last two advantages contributing to improved overall situation in effluent control associated with pulp board production.
