ABSTRACT A method of using an electrode, in the form of a probe, adapted for measuring gases and electrolytes in fluid in the oral cavity provided. The electrode is sized to be inserted into small cavities in the mouth, such as a periodontal pocket. Wires comprising a reference electrode and working electrodes are embedded within or contained within the probe tip. Measurements may be obtained simultaneously or in sequence over a 6 second interval and maybe saved in memory on a micro- processor for display on command.
