The conservation of stereophonic audio signal properties is measured by using a stereophonic signal as reference signal and creating a signal for testing by processing the stereophonic signal, e.g. by coding and subsequently decoding it. Both signals are transformed into the frequency domain to create representative spectral data for the respective subbands. Signal quantities are determined for each subband both of the reference signal and also of the signal for testing on the basis of the spectral data of the channels of the reference signal or of the signal for testing. From the comparison of the signal quantities belonging to the same subband, conclusions can be drawn concerning the conservation of the stereophonic audio signal properties for the processing or coding technique being used.
Afin de mesurer la fidélité de signaux audio stéréophoniques, on utilise un signal stéréophonique comme signal de référence (X), et un signal à contrôler (X') est crée par traitement du signal de référence (X), par exemple par codage puis décodage du signal de référence (X). Les deux signaux (X, X') sont transformés dans la plage de fréquences afin de créer des données spectrales représentatives de bandes partielles correspondantes (i). On détermine les valeurs (Gi; Gi') pour chaque bande partielle (i) tant du signal de référence (X) que du signal à contrôler (X') à partir des données spectrales des canaux (G, D) du signal de référence ou du signal de contrôle. On tire des conclusions sur la fidélité des signaux audio stéréophoniques traités ou codés par une technique de traitement ou de codage donnée à partir de la comparaison des valeurs caractéristiques (Gi, Gi') des signaux appartenant à la même bande partielle (i).
