Abstract of the Disclosure A method and apparatus for measuring the thickness of the cake layer in slip cast ceramic materials as a function of time of cast is described. An ultrasonic transducer operating in the pulse-echo mode is suspended in the slip and the time difference between the echo received from the slip/layer interface and the layer/mold interface is monitored and digitized.
