Le procédé permet la caractérisation mécanique d'un matériau métallique par rapport à un métal constituant une pièce à réparer et la validation d'une installation de réparation de ladite pièce par rechargement avec ledit matériau métallique. Selon ce procédé, on usine une cavité dans un barreau dudit métal, on recharge (54) la cavité au moyen de ladite installation, on découpe une éprouvette (56) dans ledit barreau de manière à ce qu'elle présente une zone centrale constituée uniquement de métal rechargé et on soumet l'éprouvette à un test de fatigue vibratoire axiale.
