ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method and apparatus is disclosed for mechanical milk removal in which a predetermined vacuum is generated in the interior of an applied milking cup. A pulsation of a teat rubber may be effected, if desired, to stimulate the teat prior to the principal milking operation. The stimulation precedes the phase of milk removal by 40 to 90 seconds, preferably by 40 to 60 seconds. The invention optimizes milkability, improves the emptying of the udder thus increasing lactation output and enhancing the productivity of milking.
