A microseismic method of monitoring fracturing operation or other microseismic events in hydrocarbon wells is described using the steps of obtaining multi-component signal recordings from a single monitoring well in the vicinity of a fracture or event; and rotating observed signals such that they become independent of at least one component of the moment tensor representing the source mechanism and performing an inversion of the rotated signals to determine the remaining components.

L'invention porte sur un procédé microsismique de surveillance d'une opération de fracture ou d'autres évènements microsismiques dans des puits d'hydrocarbures. Le procédé consiste à obtenir des enregistrements de signaux à multiples composantes d'un puits de surveillance unique au voisinage d'une fracture ou d'un événement ; à faire tourner les signaux observés de telle sorte qu'ils deviennent indépendants d'au moins une composante du capteur de moment représentant le mécanisme de source ; et à effectuer une inversion des signaux tournés pour déterminer les composantes restantes.
