According to this method for mounting a metallic element (2,3) onto a laminated substrate (1) for use in making an electrical insulator, the fitting has a ring (20) which is fixed by shrinking and gluing to a complementary bearing (12,13) located at one end of the substrate so as to obtain an insert having the required properties of mechanical strength and sealing. The substrate and the fitting are prepared such that the diameter of ring is slightly smaller than the diameter of the bearing. The fitting is heated to expand the ring diameter sufficiently so that it becomes slightly larger than the bearing diameter, so as to be able to insert the ring on the bearing and to fix the fitting on the substrate by shrinking and gluing.
Selon ce procédé d'assemblage d'un support en matériau stratifié (1) avec une ferrure (2,3) pour la fabrication d'un isolateur électrique, la ferrure a une bague (20) qui est fixée par frettage et collage sur une portée complémentaire (12,13) située à une extrémité du support de sorte à obtenir un insert ayant les qualités requises de tenue mécanique et d'étanchéité. Le support et la ferrure sont préparés de manière que le diamètre de la bague soit légèrement plus petit que le diamètre de la portée. La ferrure est chauffée pour dilater le diamètre de la bague de façon suffisante pour qu'il devienne légèrement plus grand que le diamètre de la portée de façon à pouvoir insérer la bague sur la portée et fixer la ferrure sur le support par frettage et collage.
