The invention concerns a method for obtaining a photochromic latex comprising free radical polymerisation in aqueous emulsion of an initial polymerisable mixture, comprising one or several polymerisable monomer(s) and one or several photochromic compound(s) and adding to the initial mixture, during polymerisation or to the final latex at least an agent stabilising the photochromic properties selected among cyclopentene, cyclohexene, cycleheptene, cyclooptene compounds and ethylenically unsaturated compounds, comprising, in position .alpha. relative to the ethylenic unsaturation, a carbon atom bearing a free hydroxy group. The invention is useful for making photochromic films.
Le procédé d'obtention de latex photochromique comprend la polymérisation en émulsion aqueuse d'un mélange polymérisable initial, comprenant un ou plusieurs monomère(s) polymérisable(s) par voie radicalaire et un ou plusieurs composé(s) photochromique(s) et l'addition au mélange initial, au cours de la polymérisation ou au latex final d'au moins un agent de stabilisation des propriétés photochromiques choisis parmi les composés du cyclopentène, du cyclohexène, du cycloheptène, du cyclooctène et les composés à insaturation éthyléniques, comportant, en position a par rapport à l'insaturation éthylénique, un atome de carbone portant un groupe hydroxy libre. Application à la fabrication de films photochromiques est également décrite.
