The invention concerns chip cards for use as server in association with a digital data transmission network terminal. The invention is characterised in that the chip card comprises a microprocessor and memories which contain programmes and data for interpreting the URL's coming from the network terminal, translating them into elementary commands of the chip card and formatting the response to the terminal. Some of these functions can be performed by the terminal with which the chip card is associated. The invention is applicable to networks transmitting digital data and programmes of the Internet or mobile telephone system type.

L'invention concerne les cartes à puce en vue de les utiliser comme serveur en association avec un terminal de réseau de transmission de données numériques. L'invention réside dans le fait que la carte à puce comprend un microprocesseur et des mémoires qui contiennent des programmes et données en vue d'interpréter les URL en provenance d'un terminal réseau, de les traduire en commandes élémentaires de la carte à puce et de formater la réponse vers le terminal. Certaines de ces fonctions peuvent être réalisées par le terminal auquel la carte à puce est associée. L'invention est applicable aux réseaux de transmission des programmes et données numériques du type INTERNET et téléphonie mobile.
