Restrained bales are formed for transporting high-bulk, crosslinked cellulose fiber in a reduced volume. A limited amount of force is used in compressing the fiber-into the bales so that the fiber is not damaged. The limited amount of force used allows the bale, when restraints are released, to expand to about twice its restrained volume. Fiber damage is further minimized by limit- ing the amount of compression to the minimum required so that a transport container completely filled to its volume and pay- load capacities.

On forme des balles serrées afin de transporter dans un volume réduit des fibres de cellulose réticulées ayant un grand volume. On applique une force limitée lorsque l'on comprime les fibres dans les balles afin de ne pas endommager les fibres. Cette quantité limitée de force permet à la balle de se dilater jusqu'à deux fois environ son volume serré, une fois que l'enserrement est défait. On minimise davantage l'endommagement des fibres en limitant la compression au minimum requis, de sorte qu'un conteneur de transport soit complètement rempli, jusqu'au maximum de sa capacité en volume et en charge utile.
